SCORING:
People with an internal locus of control believe that they are in charge of their own lives, are frequently optimists, and believe that they can overcome any obstacles. They tend to put very little faith in outside influences or regulating bodies, such as governments, or more nebulous concepts, such as luck or fate. By contrast, people who feel their lives are controlled by outside forces, and that they are powerless to influence events, are said to have an external locus; this is associated with a pessimistic attitude to life.
